Your How-To Guide for Flying To & From the Waynesville-St. Robert Regional Airport: Part 2

Flying To FLW

Last week we covered some Contour Airlines basics and provided information on flying from the Waynesville-St. Robert Regional Airport to St. Louis Lambert International Airport. This week, we’re going to focus on what you should expect if you’re Flying from St. Louis to Fort Leonard Wood.

Buying Your Ticket
We reviewed this last week, but we wanted to share it again because we feel it’s important and because we want our passengers to have the best possible experience flying to and from the WSRA.

Contour currently does not have a baggage agreement with other airlines, so you’ll need to purchase your ticket on Contour Airlines separately from the rest of your itinerary. You can do this here or by going to www.contourairlines.com.

  • If you’ll only have carry-on luggage, you will not be impacted by this. You’ll simply collect your carry-on luggage and head to gate C27 to catch your Contour flight into Fort Leonard Wood. For this reason, when you book the rest of your trip, just ensure you have enough time to get to the Contour gate.

  • If you’ll have checked baggage, you’ll exit the terminal, collect your bags at baggage claim, recheck your bags at the Contour desk in terminal 1, and re-enter through TSA security. When our team has done this in the past, it has taken approximately 30-45 minutes, but you should book your Contour flight based on the amount of time it will take you and your party to complete this task. (Again, please remember that even when Contour puts their agreements into place, they will not include Southwest Airlines, as they do not have baggage agreements with any other airline).

Enjoy Your Flight
Your flight time will be less than 30 minutes, but there will be a drink and snack service offered. There are also restrooms located on the plane.

Entering Fort Leonard Wood via the WSRA
We are located on Fort Leonard Wood. This is an active duty Army installation. To enter the installation, you’ll show your appropriate personal identification to installation security personnel in the terminal and receive an immediate temporary visitor’s pass.

There is an Enterprise rental car location outside Fort Leonard Wood and if you coordinate with them, they can pick you up from the airport and take you to their rental location. We also have numbers for the taxi service at the airport.

The process to fly to Fort Leonard Wood is quick and easy! We highly recommend taking advantage of this service and encourage you to share this option with family and friends.
